Discoveryland Preschool and Childcare Center
Discoveryland Child Care Center is part of South Bay Christian School and has been a licensed entity since 1986. It began in one room with a single director/teacher and five children. In 1988, the center expanded to three rooms, including an infant-toddler room, through an agreement to serve the families of employees at Little Company of Mary Hospital. In 1999, three more rooms were added, and in 2018, the Sunflower Room for two-year-olds was opened, bringing the total capacity to 125 students daily. The program caters to children from 6 weeks old to pre-kindergarten. Many graduates from Discoveryland go on to attend the SBCS Transitional or Kindergarten programs.
Mission Statement
Discoveryland provides a loving, friendly, and safe Christian environment for children in which their creativity, individuality, and self-esteem will be nurtured. The developmentally appropriate curriculum addresses the child’s mental, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
Governing Board
Discoveryland is owned and operated by South Bay Christian School, a Seventh-day Adventist school serving students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade Eight. It is licensed by the State of California’s Department of Social Services. The South Bay Christian School Board of Directors determines the policies governing the center.
Full-time Discoveryland children with siblings at South Bay Christian School are extended the South Bay Christian School sibling discount of 5%.
Hours of Operation and Contact Information
The center is open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM - Monday through Friday except for legal holidays.
