Middle School Weekly Update

May 28, 2024

Dear Parents,

Another week closer to the end of school, and so much to do between now and then! Make sure you’re checking your email and Remind for the latest updates.

Free Dress Days

A special arrangement has been made for 7th and 8th Graders for these last few weeks of school.  Washington D.C. outerwear (sweaters, jackets, hats - only) may be worn through now through the end of this school year (with a regular uniform or chapel uniform worn underneath).

The last Free Dress Day is June 3. However, all students are allowed to wear House Shirts and Washington D.C. clothes (outwear as well as shirts) for the entire last week of school.

Middle School Business Fair Check Out

Students who participated in one, or both, of the Middle School Business Fairs are submitting their final reports to Life Skills Class. Once the report is approved, it will be sent home so that parents can use it to sign out their reimbursements and student profits from the office.

Dockweiler Beach Day and Vespers, Friday, May 31, 2 PM - 7 PM

On May 31, families are invited to join us at Dockweiler Beach for games and dinner after school. We aim to arrive and claim our fire pit by 2 PM. We will use Remind to let parents know what Lifeguard Tower we are near.  You may park in the Dockweiler State Beach parking; we will have a fire pit close to that parking lot.

If your child will need a ride to the beach, let us know by Thursday, May 30, 2024, so we can arrange drivers.  Additionally, you will need a signed permission slip that we will send when you notify us that your child needs a ride.

8th Grade Graduation Practice on June 5 & 6

There will be graduation practice at South Bay SDA Church for 7th and 8th graders during school hours on the afternoon of Wednesday, 6/5/24, and the morning of Thursday, 6/6/24.  Permission slips will be sent home this week and must be returned for all 7th and 8th graders by no later than Tuesday, 6/4/24.  Students will be driven for the practices by SBCS staff.

Additional graduation information will be sent separately.

Treasure Verses

On May 31, students will have a Treasure Verse “final” where they will be asked to share any 10 verses they have learned this year. Students have been encouraged to make flash cards to help them practice.
